Question: I really could use some tips and ideas that would let me go longer between coloring appointments. Yet I want my hair to look good while doing so.

Trick #3: Try not to use volumizing products any more than you have to. These can sometimes strip the color. Instead use color enhancing shampoos to protect it and prolong it. Trick #4: Add shine by using a semi permanent glaze once a week.

Trick #5:Keep your hair’s exposure to the sun to a minimum. Hats or scarves, aside from being fashion accessories, are good for that. As is applying some type of sun screen for your hair that has UV protection built in.

Trick #6: You should try to protect your hair at the pool by always donning a swimming cap. If that isn’t something you can or want to do get your hair wet before diving in so it absorbs less potentially color-altering chlorine. This will also dilute the effect of however much chlorine is does absorb.

The seventh or final trick is simple. After shampooing your hair rinse it with cold water. It told you it was simple. But just because it is, don’t ignore it.
