20-year-old man eager for sex change: ‘Even if I die from it’
With brown-dyed hair, miniskirt, black silk stockings and tender voice, a 20-year-old Jiangxi man Liu Jun is always considered as a girl. He said he is eager for sex change surgery but still can’t pay for it.
“I’ve known for years I’m a woman – I think and act like a woman, not a man. I want to accept sex change surgery and be a complete woman; even if I die on the operating table.” Liu Jun told Xiamen news media.
The young man, who was born in 1990 in China’s Jiangxi Province, stole his sister’s ID card and came to Xiamen to look for jobs last September.
Liu Jun said that, since he was young, he hadn’t felt the same as other boys. Often, he’d consider himself a girl, and would sometimes sneakily try on his two sisters’ clothes. After ceaseless teasing at school, he decided he needed to become a full-on girl.
Liu Jun said he fell in love over the internet with a Xiamen man when he was still in his hometown. At the beginning of 2009, Liu Jun came to Xiamen to see his boyfriend. But his boyfriend left him after knowing he was a man. Despaired Liu Jun tried to kill himself by taking poison, but he was sent to the hospital in time and then took to his hometown by his family.
On April 4, 2009, two young men in a miniskirt held “I want to change sex” banners appeared on Huangxing Road, Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province. One man is Liu Jun and another is his friend Shen Qingqing. They explained that their aim was to make the public more tolerant towards transsexuals, as well as to get more hospitals to perform sex change operations.
Their demonstration causes a sensation in the media and Liu Jun was then hired as a singer by a performance group. But later he found that he was cheated and didn’t get any money from his performance.
In order to raise money for sex change surgery, Liu Jun left school when he was 16 years old. “The surgery costs 200,000 yuan. It is too hard for me to earn so much money, but I want to accept the surgery as soon as possible.” said Liu Jun.
“If any one can help me, I would like to work for him for all my lifetime.” Liu Jun said several times.
